Blues Prospect Snuggerud Helps Lead Team USA to Semifinals at 2023 WJCs

The 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships are currently taking place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Moncton, New Brunswick and St. Louis Blues prospect Jimmy Snuggerud has been one of the top players in this year’s annual Christmastime tradition. 

The 18-year-old native of Chaska, Minnesota, ranks third in tournament scoring with ten points in five games played, only behind his Team USA teammate Logan Cooley who has 11 points, and Team Canada star and potential number-one pick in this summer’s draft, Connor Bedard, who has an amazing 21 points in just five games played. 

Seven of those ten points have come as part of multi-goal and point efforts from Snuggerud. He had two goals in the United States 5-1 victory over team Switzerland on Thursday and then on Saturday in a 6-2 victory over Finland that secured Team USA’s spot in the quarterfinals, Snuggerud recorded a goal along with three assists. 

Then in Monday’s quarterfinal match against Team Germany, Snuggerud had a goal and two assists in Team USA’s 11-1 victory to get him to his total of ten points for the tournament.

Snuggerud and team USA look to earn their place in Thursday’s Gold Medal Game when they take on Team Canada in the semifinals this evening at 6:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30 p.m. CT on NHL Network in the U.S. and TSN in Canada.
